Shillong

Shillong became the first capital of the State of Meghalaya. Located in undulating pine covered hills, the city has a milder climate than tropical India. The city centre is 1496m above sea level and currently has a population of around 270,000. Home to several waterfalls, it is also known as the Scotland of the East. The British legacy is still visible in the architecture and food habits of the population.

Cherrapunji

Cherrapunji in Meghalaya is one of the wettest places on the planet and the only place in India to receive rain throughout the year. The town of Cherrapunji is nestled in the East Khasi Hills about 50 km southwest of the state’s capital, Shillong. Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra or Churra, means ‘the land of oranges’. The cliffs of Cherrapunji also offer stunning views of the plains of Bangladesh.

Kaziranga

Kaziranga National park is a world heritage site famous for the Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. The landscape of Kaziranga is of sheer forest, tall elephant grass, rugged reeds, marshes and shallow pools.

Kaziranga also has a good number of Tigers and is home to large breeding population of Elephants, Wild Water Buffalo and Swamp Deer.

Day 1 Arrive at Guwahati – Shillong (110 kms 3 hrs approx..)

Transfer from Guwahati airport/railway station to Shillong en route visit Umium Lake.

Overnight at Shillong.

Day 2 Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Shillong (60 kms 2 hrs each way)

Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Cherrapunjee.

Visit to Arwah Cave, Nahkhalikai Falls, Mwasmai Cave, Rama Krishna Mission Museum, Seven Sister Falls, Dainthlen Waterfalls and Eco Park and Rama Krishna Mission Museum.

Return back to Shillong, en-route visit Shillong Peak offers a birds eye view of the entire city and valley and Elephant Falls is a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern covered rocks.

Overnight at Shillong.

Day 3 Shillong – Kaziranga (320 kms 7 hrs approx.)

After breakfast drive from Shillong to Kaziranga.

Day 4 Kaziranga Sightseeing

Early morning elephant ride at the park & return to the hotel for breakfast.

Later Jeep Safari in the Central range of the park.

Day 5 Kaziranga – Guwahati (230 kms 4 hrs approx..)

After breakfast drive from Kaziranga to Guwahati.

Afternoon visit to Kamakhya Temple - The temple is dedicated to goddess Kamakhya an incarnation of Sati. It is on Nilachal hill, says the Shiva Purana, that the yoni or creative organ of Sati fell when Vishnu, in a bid to save the world from the Shiva’s tandava nrittya or dance of destruction, cut her dead body into 51 pieces with his suddarshan chakra.

Day 6 Departure to Guwahati

After breakfast transfer to the airport/railway station in time for onward connection.

Seating capacity of Indigo/Dzire 2-4 heads, Sumo Max. 6 heads and Innova Max. 5 heads (as, Carriers in vehicles are not allowed in many places in the region).

Air conditioning will not functional during hill drives for vehicles.

On arrival at Guwahati station the guests are requested to come out from the front side (RBI side)

On arrival at Guwahati airport the guests are requested to wait near the main Exit Gate of the airport.

Vehicles provided are as per itinerary and not at disposal.

Road conditions in this sector is not very good, particularly in Arunanchal The weather in the North East is very unpredictable. It is important to carry rain gear while traveling.

Drivers come from remote areas and may not be able to converse fluently in English or Hindi, guests are requested to call us in case of any confusion and avoid any argument with the drivers.

Night travel is not recommended due to unpredictable weather conditions.

We try to ensure that the sightseeing points do not fall on a closing day. Incase due to inevitable situation if the sightseeing falls on a closing day, it will have to be left out. Conducting that particular tour or sightseeing point the next day will be subject to time availability.

In Kaziranga elephant ride is subject to availability. Even after confirmation the ride may be cancelled at the last minute in which case the amount of the ride will be refunded to the guest.

Most of the hotels in the hills do not have lift facility as such for guests with any ailments or knee problems the information has to be shared in advance so that the hotels can be requested for appropriate rooms. This is again subject to availability at the hotels and is not guaranteed.

The hotels in this region are small and have rooms of different sizes and offer different views, all rooms of same category is not possible.

In most of the hotels extra bed will be mattresses / Roll Overs, proper folding beds may not be possible.

In the entire region, scarcity of water & electricity is a natural phenomenon. Guests are requested to bear with such problems as may arise during the tour.

In the hills room heaters are available at an extra cost, which should be settled at the hotel directly by the guests.

In remote areas, basic facilities like Geyzer in bathroom, Colour TV, Western Toilet, etc. may not be available.

In case of any strike, political disturbance, natural disaster (landslide/earthquake) the itinerary will be changed keeping the safety and security of the guests and the guests will be required to follow the revised program. Any extra cost incurred will have to be borne by the

guest directly.

Arunachal Pradesh is a very remote place; so all hotels in this region are very basic.

To visit Arunachal Pradesh, Indian national requires Inner Line Permits. Permits are issued Online only, which takes 2-3 working days.

Documents required: Scanned copy of - 1 passport size photographs, 1 Photo ID address proof (Voter ID, Driving License, Passport – for children school ID is acceptable)

The region is famous for the natural beauty and simple standard of living. Facilities offered here should not be compared with other parts of the country.

Payment Procedure

For bookings the Procedure will be as follows.

You are requested to deposit 50% advance payment on the confirmation of a tour and balance payment at least 07 days prior to the date of travel.

 

Refund

It would take at least 07 days to process such Refund. However, there is no refund for any unutilized services example – meals, entrance fee, optional, hotel, sightseeing, transportation (surface/air)
